Two dead after a two-car crash in Barnwell County

A car crash involving two vehicles that took place at 11:44 a.m. near the intersection of Kingfisher Road and Catfish Road in Barnwell County, saw two deaths.

The first vehicle was a 2007 BMW 328, with one passenger who died. The driver was using a seatbelt.

The second vehicle was a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado which had a single occupant who was also using a seatbelt. The driver was flown to a regional hospital facility, but couldn’t be saved.

The BMW was moving West on Kingfisher Road and drove into the opposite lane of travel to pass another automobile in a no-passing zone. While in the other, opposing lane of traffic, the BMW crashed with the Silverado, which was heading East on Kingfisher.

The crash is being investigated.
