Two killed after head-on car crash on SR 18 in Phelan, California

Two people were killed following a head-on car crash on Thursday evening in the community of Phelan, California.

At about 6:13 pm, on July 22, San Bernardino County Firefighters were dispatched to the site of the crash in the area of SR 18 and Hacienda Road, near Johnson Road.

Upon their arrival, they found a white Ford Ranger truck and a black 2000 Subaru Impreza, both with major front-end damage and obstructing the road.

Two people were pronounced dead on the scene and three helicopters were requested to land at the scene.

Three people with critical injuries were flown to trauma centers and two others with small injuries were taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

The crash resulted in a temporary closure of both directions on SR-18. One lane was eventually opened and directed traffic through the scene.
