Two separate incidents were about trains colliding with vehicles on railroad tracks Friday night. One driver was able to get away in time while the other driver died.

Around 5 p.m., a car drove into a passing train’s 11th car in Burlington. The crash took place at State Route 20 at Garrett Road, according to the Washington State Patrol. After crashing with the freight train, the truck was dragged for at least a mile to Avon-Allen Road. The vehicle caught fire following the crash. The driver of the vehicle died.

Burlington police and the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office addressed the incident.

Around 8:30 p.m., a train collided with a pickup truck on the tracks in Auburn. The driver said that the truck became disabled and stopped on the tracks. He was able to see the train coming and got away before the crash. No injuries took place.

Police have not made any arrests from the incident.
