Upcoming Infiniti G Coupe going hybrid and with design lines similar to the Essence Concept

by Ron Grant

An insider from Nissan hinted that the upcoming Skyline coupe or the Infiniti G37 will lift some of its styling features from the Essence Concept. The Infiniti G Coupe is expected to hit the showroom as soon as 2012 and will feature elements of the Essence that was unveiled during last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

It does not really come as a surprise if the Skyline will use the design lines of the Essence. The Japanese car manufacturer disclosed earlier that the concept vehicle represents what we may see from the brand in the future. You may have noticed that some of the features of the Essence have already been used for the refreshed line up of the M sedan.

The next Infiniti G coupe will measure approximately 186x77x52 inches and will have a long wheelbase of 110 inches. These dimensions are considered to be more practical for use in the real world.

Nissan will also be launching the Leaf electric vehicle which may fit the upcoming G coupe with a hybrid capability option. The Nissan insider also disclosed that their electric car Leaf might get a 3.5L hybrid variant from the Fuga or Infiniti M35 that can output as much as 360 horsepower in total.

With the Renault-Nissan forming a partnership with Daimler, most likely we can expect a diesel hybrid that will give the vehicle a better fuel efficiency and further lower its carbon dioxide emissions. This diesel hybrid variant might be offered outside of the United States.
