Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech has unveiled a Ducati-powered XL1 while delivering a lecture at the University of Vienna.
Dubbed as the XL Sport, the model can be distinguished by an aggressive body kit that comes with features such as a front splitter, a ventilated hood and extended fenders. Other highlights of the model include unique alloy wheels and motorsport-inspired graphics.
Mot much detail is available about the model as of now but Piech confirmed that it will be powered by a Ducati-sourced 1200cc engine that generates output of 190 HP (140 kW) and 123 Nm (91 lb-ft) of torque. The company has not mentioned anything about performance specifications but the model will reportedly weigh less than 795 kg (1752 lbs) thanks to lightweight components and the absence of the plug-in hybrid system.
There were reports earlier that suggested that a petrol-powered XL1 could go in to production, but it seems that the XL Sport is like a concept or research vehicle. Well we have to wait to get additional and confirmed details about the Ducati-powered XL Sport and till then we have to rely on these rumors and details given by the VW Chairman.
