Volkswagen has recently revealed pricing details for the e-up! for UK market. The price kicks off from 19,250 GBP, including a 5,000 GBP government grant.
The conventional-powered Volkswagen up! comes with a base price of 8,265 GBP in UK for the base Take up! version while the electric version starts with 24,250 GBP before taking into account the government grant. The company had already informed earlier that the electric version will be 2.5 times more expensive, but in the end it turned out to be almost three times pricier if the grant is not taken into account.
Introduced in production guise at Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the four-door e-up! will be powered by an electric motor rated at 82 HP (60 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque. It comes with an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which provides enough juice for the car to run 99 miles (in optimum conditions). The batteries can be charged in a time of less than nine hours from a 230-volt, 2.3 kW household socket.
The Volkswagen e-up! will be available on order in United Kingdom starting December 2, while the deliveries will begin in late January next year.
