Volkswagen Golf VII GTD made public ahead of Geneva

Volkswagen has disclosed the diesel version of the Golf VII before the car’s debut at Geneva.

Volkswagen is presenting the most efficient diesel version of the new Golf which will be put on block very soon. It comes with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter slantingly mounted common rail producing 181 hp (135 kW) at 3,500 rpm and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm. In comparison with the previous model, Golf VII GTD is 13 hp (9.6 kW) & 22 lb-ft (29.7 Nm) more powerful.

Power goes to the front wheels through a standard 6-speed manual gearbox With this the 2013 Golf GTD covers the 62 mph (100 km/h) distance in 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h), while the Golf VI GTD achieved a top speed of 138 mph (222 km/h).

In the efficiency cycle, the new Golf GTD gives back 56 mpg US (67.3 mpg UK or 4.1 liters / 100 km) and has CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. It has curb weight of around 1,302 kg (2,870 lbs) and has 17-inch alloys with 225/45 tires and sits on a sports suspension.

It has other features like prominent spoiler above the tailgate, chromed tailpipe, wider sills, and a diffuser. One peek inside the car we can see that it has stainless steel pedals, black headlining, sports steering wheel, and sport seats.
