Volkswagen India has announced that it has extended the service standard warranty for its consumers to assist them in the coronavirus crisis.
The Volkswagen vehicle owners with warranty ending between 22nd March and mid-May 2020, can take benefit of special support up to 31st July 2020, said the German automaker in a release.
The extended warranty with expiry date between March 22 and April 15 2020, will be increased till May 15. The consumers with service value package (SVP) and whose maintenance is due on March and April, can continue to take benefits of the services with no added cost at authorized dealerships till 31st July.
Discussing this initiative, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, stated, “Volkswagen is exercising all the necessary measures and precautions to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus and have been complying with all the directions as indicated by the Government of India.”
“We understand this difficult situation and would like to ensure peace of mind to our customers with the extended service support. We would like to reassure them that their Volkswagen car is safe and all services will be provided as applicable. Together, we will emerge stronger,” added Knapp.
Other automakers in India such as Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, TVS Motor Company and Yamaha Motor India has also announced similar step.
About 1,251 people in India have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 32 people in the country.
