Volkswagen joins Dubai Silicon, Smart Dubai to drive road safety awareness

Volkswagen Middle East collaborated with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Smart Dubai this month to introduce an ingenious roadway security project, “The Human Crossing”, to develop pedestrian crossings much safer for UAE residents.

According to Abu Dhabi authorities, 20 per cent of traffic accidents in the UAE involve a pedestrian. To notice this problem, Volkswagen executed a structure, arched over a pedestrian crossing beyond Gems Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis, which points the name of individual students crossing below it – providing a face to each pedestrian and reminding drivers that the specific crossing might be their household, friend or neighbor.
