Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept Debuts at Detroit Auto Show

by SpeedLux

Volkswagen is displaying the Passat Performance Concept at 2013 Detroit auto show.

With the introduction of this concept VW has disclosed the coming of the 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in the US. This particular engine is already available in other auto markets. This is an all-new TSI engine capable of outputting 250 hp (186 kW) and will replace the inline-five 2.5-liter engine in the United States. For this concept VW has connected the TSI to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

It doesn’t look distinct from the regular model but one can notice a lowered sports suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels and a restyled front bumper that gets honeycomb inserts. The updated front fascia also shows bi-xenon headlights, while at the back there are dual pipes for the exhaust and LED taillights.

The interior boasts two-tone leather upholstery, black headliner and carbon fiber-like inserts for the dashboard.

There is no word on car performance and features to begin with, but soon or later this is likely to be made public through the media.

In the mean time savor the beautiful pictures for a change.
