The German Automaker Volkswagen is planning to launch the Polo 1.2 turbo in India where the model is expected to become more popular than the outgoing version, because recently the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 Petrol had being killed, thanks to sky rocketing petrol prices and a dull performance car scene in India, the Polo 1.6 could never garner the sales figures that VW India might had hoped for.
But now that hasn’t stopped the automaker to give up its try to inject some excitement into the small car market, and for that the VW group has another ace up its sleeve, which is the Polo 1.2 liter turbo, which is expected to be launched very soon, probably the 2014 Indian Auto Expo might witness that.
The reports state that the Polo 1.2 liter TSI turbo petrol engine is capable to produce a total output of 105 BHP, as musch as the current output squeezed out of the current 1.6 liter version, all thanks to the direct injection and turbocharging. The whole unti will be mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission (DCQ200) which will help the small hatchback’s fuel economy and take care of its CO2 emissions. The sources point out that he Polo 1.2 TSI will claim 0 – 100 km/hr acceleration figure of 9.7 seconds and a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 18.9 km/l.
Additional details on the Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI aimed towards India are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its launch. So Stay tune in.
