Volkswagen has to recall an estimated 700,000 Tiguan and Touran cars globally because of a possible lighting defect, German trade magazine Kfz-Betrieb reported on Monday.

The magazine reported that humidity can result in a short circuit at the panoramic roof’s light strip of the impacted vehicles. A short circuit in the LED-module could lead scorching damage on the roof and potentially set the vehicle on fire, the magazine stated, mentioning a company spokesman.

In Germany, an estimate of 52,500 cars are affected.

The company is presently working on a solution, the magazine included, quoting the spokesman.

The automaker was not immediately available for discussion.
