Geely-owned Volvo Cars stated on Wednesday it had selected Henrik Green, 43, as its new head of research and development, replacing Peter Mertens, 45, who is quitting for German automaker Audi.

Green is presently Senior Vice President Sales and Production Planning & Customer service at Volvo Cars. He got in touch with Volvo Cars in 1996.

“Henrik is preferably certified to lead our team of extremely gifted engineers across the world as we get in the 2nd phase of Volvo’s transformation,” Volvo Cars President Hakan Samuelsson stated.

Volkswagen-owned Audi stated in late November that it had appointed Mertens as its new head of technical development. Mertens has worked in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, and has worked for the automakers such as Daimler, Tata Motors, and more.

Henrik Green has achieved his fourth promotion in three years.
