The successor to the current generation Audi R8 is actually well underway. Now, before its official unveiling at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show event, the luxury German automaker, Audi, has actually tested the car on a racetrack. As a matter of fact, the company has even released a video of the test race.
For the sake of the racing video, the German automaker has chosen Frank Stippler, one of the factory drivers at Audi, to pilot the car. Along with the release of the test race video, Heinz Hollerweger, the person in charge as the managing director at Quattro GmbH, refers to the vehicle in question as the result of a company’s entire experience in the automotive industry, combined with the racing experiences that have come from the first generation ever. He also adds that the next generation R8 from Audi is going to have a very aerodynamically designed front fascia, making the car truly special at its front. In addition to that, the car will also come with a flat and wide body.
Just as a kind reminder, the luxury German automaker has actually confirmed that the new Audi R8 will sport LED headlamps as a standard feature. Yet, for customers wanting more, they can always opt for laser headlamps at an additional cost. The car is also going to have a total power output of 532 bhp and a total torque of 539 Nm. However, for the highest trim, the Plus trim, of the car, customers will receive extra 59 bhp and 20 Nm of power and torque, respectively. With that being said, the outgoing R8 model should have no chance of competing with its successor, or at least so it seems.
Well, since the next generation Audi R8 is going to visit the Geneva Motor Show event this year, more official details should be flooding in for the coming weeks.
