It has been quite a while that the present generation KIA Rio wandering around the streets of the world. So, it is time a new generation shows up. In fact, this is just what the South Korean automaker, KIA, thinks. The company has brought the 2016 KIA Rio, both the sedan and hatchback variants, to the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The sedan will come with four doors while the hatchback will be equipped with five doors.
As a next generation model, the 2016 KIA Rio comes with slightly revised headlamps and front grille, new fog lamp housing, new rear reflectors and lower front valance. Additionally, the new Rio model has also been blessed with two new paint finishes, Digital Yellow and Urban Blue.
Stepping into the cabin of the car, there seems to be an increased amount of high density foam, visible at both the A and B pillars of the vehicle. According to the South Korean company, this should reduce NVH levels. In addition to that, a piano black finish is also seen surrounding the ancillary controls and the audio system in the car.
The new KIA Rio will reportedly come in a number of trims, which are, LX, EX and SX. The top of the range will feature leather steering wheel, ventilated disc brakes for the front tires, sport suspensions, 17-inch alloy wheels, telescope/tilt steering wheel, the so-called Supervision instrument panel, rear camera, enhanced navigation system, SiriusXM traffic, start/stop engine button, power sunroof, leather upholstery and heated front seats.
Unfortunately, when it comes under the hood, nothing is likely to change. The 2016 KIA Rio, both hatchback and sedan variants, is going to boast 138 bhp and 167 Nm of power and torque. For the sedan, customers can also expect a 6-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, for those interested in the hatchback, they will get a 6-speed automatic transmission.
