As some of you might know, the Lexus LFA was recently crowned the production king of the Nurburgring considering that the Japanese was able to set the fastest Nordschleife laptime for a production car – 7:14. Well, ladies and gentlemen, prepare for a new record lap time around the Nurburgring. The old record has been broken by the new Dodge Viper whick was able run around the Nurburgring in just 7:12, at least according to Viper Club of America.
Three years ago, Dodge decided to set a blistering time at the ‘Ring with its Viper ACR coupes and they succeeded. Dodge claimed with a time of 7:22.1 that it held the fastest lap time of any production car around the famous circuit for quite some time.
As expected, since then, many vehicles have bested that still-stellar time, notably the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (7:19.63) and more recently the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition (7:14).
However, now it seems that a Viper ACR has reportedly just reclaimed the title with an unofficial time of “7:12 and change.”
Unfortunately, there’s still no video of the record run nor is there an official lap time, but we expect all the specific information and video confirmations to pop up in the coming days. Stay tuned for details.
