12 Volkswagen apprentices unveil a one-off Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition with 380 hp at Wörthersee

by Max Richardson

12 apprentices from Wolfsburg have presented their 380 hp Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition at the 33rd Wörthersee GTI meeting this past weekend. It took four women and eight men nine months and the result is quite impressive.

Since 2008, Volkswagen has offered its best apprentices the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and teamwork capabilities on special vehicle projects like the Wörthersee GTI. The Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition is the seventh apprentice GTI and so far the most powerful.

The special Golf GTI is powered by a modified 2.0-liter TSI engine from the Golf R2 producing 380 horsepower. In addition to modified engine, the car is fitted with a carbon air box and a hand-welded stainless steel exhaust system with vacuum valve control allowing the driver to control the volume of the engine sound.

Finished in Absolute red with decor strips in Negro Magico black it looks very attractive and could easily be offered as a factory option for those who want something more special.

The interior theme carries over with a similar color scheme, featuring two Recaro bucket seats at the front and a rear seat bench with black leather upholstery, along with red stripes over the headrests and inverted side bolsters covered in GTI tartan (Clark).
