Students purchased an unfinished task truck for the automobile technology class to work on, and the ’56 Ford F100 is now prepared.
The ’56 Ford, purchased new on the West Coast, has actually undergone a change of sorts after being obtained from Michael Stoutenger of Plattsburgh. Stoutenger planned to reconstruct the truck as a task, however, as happens all too often, it ended up simply sitting in his garage rather. The car store teacher, Ryan Beckley, purchased it in pieces, and the school’s Spartan Garage students dealt with the task as a restomod. It’s no more blue, however Jungle Green Metallic, and the 292-cubic-inch V8 has been changed with a 302 and improved with an Edelbrock consumption and four-barrel carb. The initial work truck aesthetic has actually been shelved, as the Ford now has cooling, power windows, power steering, power brakes and more, complete with a customized bed.
It’s not ESM’s first student task, as the school has in previous years restored vehicles such as a ’63 Buick Wildcat, a ’65 Mustang, a ’72 Chevelle and a Factory Five Cobra. The completed truck will go on a show tour that ends at the Syracuse Nationals in July, and it is going to be raffled off on July 17. With the cash raised, the school will acquire and restore their upcoming task, whatever that might be. A few of the cash will also enter into scholarship fund.
