Jaguar has rolled out a concept car which is a range extended electric vehicle. The concept has been aptly named as C-X75 RE-EV. The event coincides with their celebrating of the 7-5 and the car has been inspired by their XJ220. Electric motors that work in conjunction with “micro gas-turbines” are the power train of this car and they develop 1180 lb ft or 1600 NM torque. The time taken to charge the car is 6 hours and gives 68 miles to a charge as per Jaguar sources. Top speed of the vehicle is 250 mph that is 330 km/hr.

There are four in number electric motors that are mounted at each wheel. Each of the motor delivers 195 hp or 145 kw of power. These are the turbines which add to the power of used for charging the batteries. The placement of the motors provides torque vectoring. The turbines are located in a central position of the car and housed in a Texalium-lined compartment. The car design is such that the turbines are automatically cooled by the air that is channeled to reach the necessary areas.

The interior is made up in a luxurious manner. There is leather , neoprene, soft-touch materials, polished and vapor-blasted aluminum. The seats are mounted directly at the bulkhead just like it happens “”as in a single-seater racing car”.

The drivers controls all are able to move front and back for allowing the driver to get in or out of the car.

The makers have also taken some tips from Saab and Spyker, which is evident from the aeronautical touches one notices in the interior. There is the gear shifter as also a trick switch overhead used form starting the car. There is also the stealth setting that dims the ambient lighting when driving in the track mode.

There is one other unique feature on the car and that is named “dramatic theater lighting”. Various areas of the car is lit up with this feature when the key fob is detected close by. Some other areas are lit up when the car is turned on.

CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Dr Ralf Speth says, “Performance through innovation has always been a Jaguar hallmark. From the beginning, cars such as the C-Type and D-Type pioneered aluminum construction, aerodynamic design, racing monocoques and disc brakes. The C-X75 demonstrates that the company is still leading the field in automotive design and technology.”

The Managing Director, Jaguar Cars, Mike O’Driscoll had this to say of latest Jaguar offering: “The C-X75 is a tribute to the people who shaped the iconic Jaguars that are revered to this day. By making it an innovative test-bed for the technologies of tomorrow, it also ensures that our reputation for engineering excellence will continue for another 75 years and beyond.”

Someone’s math is off. 250 mph = 402 kph, not 330. I suspect that the kph number is correct and the mph number is wrong. 205 mph would be approximately 330 kph
