2010 911 GT3 RSJust recently we reported that the new 500 horsepower 911 Turbo lapped the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:39.

Last week Porsche was back on the Nürburgring with the new 2010 911 GT3 RS, where an unnamed test driver lapped the track in 7 minutes and 33 seconds.

The session was in light traffic, so according to Porsche they could shave a few seconds from the time.

Surely Porsche won’t confirm this, but it is obvious they are eyeing the lap time of the Nissan GT-R (7:27.56). Rumor is that Porsche is also working on a a 997 Turbo S and a new GT2 should be introduced next year. Maybe one of these 911 versions can take on the mighty Godzilla.

Refresher: GT3 RS is based on the 911 GT3, and uses the same 3.8-liter naturally aspirated six cylinder engine that produces 450 horsepower. Power is sent to rear wheels via six-speed manual gearbox. Weight is just 1,200 kg (2,646 lb).

The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in U.S. next spring and will be priced at $132,800. EU pricing starts at 149,850 euros plus all the taxes.
