2011 Audi E-tron A3 concept

The Etron A3 concept from Audi is an advanced version of the E-Tron that it had come up with sometime ago. The car is fully battery operated and gets its juice from a powerful electric motor and a liquid cooled lithium-ion battery pack. The difference between a production A3 and the concept and quite subtle though they are by no means identical twins. Features like a revised instrument cluster, leather Alcantara seats, a heated windshield, and an optimized air conditioning system present in the concept car will help to distinguish from the production A3 model wherein these features are absent.

The engine fit between the two concepts is also different. Instead of the 2.5 liter turbocharged engine that powers the A3 concept, it is the slightly less powerful 1.4 liter TFSI turbocharged gas engine that the E-tron version derives its power from. The power output in the latter case is far lower than the former.

However, since the car is a hybrid it is fuel efficiency which is an important factor rather than the performance issues. And the E-tron A3 Concept leaves the gasoline powered A3 concept far behind in the fuel efficiency aspect.
