The new Honda Jazz doesn’t look very different than the old one, but it does have a redesigned front end. This modification has been made so that the car will have a lower drag coefficient. The car now has a Cd figure of just 0.330, rather than 0.336. The small city car will hit dealerships next February. The higher spec models got some chrome trim in the dashboard and leather seats. The two petrol engines, one a 1.2 l and the other a 1.4 l, have not been changed except for being tuned so that they will produce lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel efficiency.
Honda claims that the 1.4 engine with a manual gearbox emits 126g/km and has a fuel efficiency of 51.4 mpg, and the 1.2 l engine with the same gearbox now offers 123g/km and 53.3mpg. The Jazz model has the same hybrid powertrain as the Insight and has a fuel economy of 62.8mpg and has CO2 emissions of 104g/km. Honda is putting back the CVT transmission that was available on the first generation Jazz, this transmission being offered as standard on the hybrid version.
Honda also made several mechanical revisions, including new suspension settings that are believed to “increase ride comfort and improve handling.” The steering wheel was also tweaked to improve feel. The base 1.2 S Jazz has a price tag of £11,295 (including 20% VAT). For air conditioning, the buyer has to add £700 to the price. The CVT models have a starting price of £14,495, and the base Hybrid HE is priced at £15,995. The range goes on sale on February 1.
