2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee obtained Top Safety Pick Status from none other than the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2010 Jeep Patriot also figures in the same secure safety zone list. The automobile is equipped with a seat mounted airbag which separately has also received the much aspired for recognition recently.
The award is given to only those vehicles which pass the test of front, side, rear, and rollover with the highest rating of good. It is also mandatory for the vehicle to be equipped with electronic stability control. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been the first vehicle to be launched after Chrysler Group LLC formed an alliance with Fiat as stated by Chrysler Groups Senior Vice President Scott Kunselman. Receiving the “Top Safety Pick” award, he mentioned is the best way to start production for the year 2011. He went on to add that the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee being accorded the Top Safety Pick’ award is also a clear indication of the engineering capabilities of Chrysler Group and their commitment to lead in occupant safety aspects. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is loaded with both active accident-avoidance as well as passive safety features. It has an ESC with traction control, a Brake Assist and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), driver and front-passenger active head restraints, front seat-mounted side airbags and advanced multi-stage front airbags.
