2011 Mercedes SL R230 Black Edition Released By Prior Design

by Sebastian Bivin

German Tuner Prior Design brought us last year their Widebody Styling Kit for the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class (R230). Inspired by the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series, with main changes serving to add a widened, more aggressive stance to the model. This time around, Prior Design has opted for milder design modifications to the exterior and interior, but the result is just as mind-blowing as the first.

For this new package Prior Design takes a look at the Mercedes SL R230 and adds a new front bumper, rear bumper, front fenders, front bonnet, side skirts, rear widenings, rear trunk spoiler, rear diffusor, front lip spoiler and last but not least, replacement windshield washer tank. Also there’s the new set of Prior Design PD1 Wheels with concave design at the back and the replacement windshield water tank to wrap things up.

About the changes made for the interior of the SL-Class nothing has been said. Still we can see in the images a great combination of black and red leather for both the seats and dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel, and various carbon fiber insertions.

This package is made to fit all R230 SL Models from 2003-Present. So, if you have a 2003-2008 SL, this package can be used to update your car to the 2011 SL63 AMG Facelift Model and about 4″ wider on each side.

At a glance the new Prior Design package for the SL-Class doesn’t match the hardcore design of the previous package, but the modified sports car is still classy and edgy, two words which says it all.
