While some people say that Porsche 911 is a boring supercar because it seems to be everywhere, others simply adores it. However, one thing is clear: special edition Porsche 911 Carreras don’t come out often. Still, now, tuning firm Brunos Porsche has confirmed that they will be producing five, very rare special edition 911 Carerra GTS B59 Edition Coupes straight from the factory in Zuffenhausen.
You might know Hurley Haywood, the man who won the Daytona 24 Hours five times for Porsche, four times in the 70s and one in the 90s. Well these cars were commissioned as a tribute to him.
The 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS B59 Special Edition comes full of special edition goodies that justifies its rarity, including a special paint job and Porsche’s own Sport Chrono Package Plus.
“Our special B59 Edition project is nearing completion and soon the driving fun will begin,” said Ray Shaffer, Brumos Porsche General Manager.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to be involved so closely with the Porsche factory in Germany and here in the States during the creation of these special 911s.”
In order to complement the predominantly white finish, the car was brought to life with some red and blue stripe “Porsche” door decals, black door mirrors, and a set of 19″ Fuchs-style wheels to add a modern language on the otherwise retro-looking profile of the car.
In the cabin, the stainless steel door entry guards come with a “Hurley Haywood” engraved signature. Beside this, the steering wheel and the gear lever get a deviating stitching in the same red and blue colors of the stripes on the car’s hood. The white paint finish also finds its way inside as interior accents, including the Adaptive Sport Seat Backrests and heated front seats. In addition comes a BOSE surround-sound system, an XM satellite radio receiver, and an extended navigation module for PCM 3.0.
“The 911 Carrera GTS B59 Edition is cause for celebration on many levels and we want to make sure it receives the recognition and fanfare it so richly deserves,” added Brumos Porsche Sales Manager Brandon Starks. “We have several customer event concepts being discussed right now including the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24 at Daytona January 28-29th, 2012.”
As expected, underneath the livery paint and the special alloy wheels, there’s an already impressive version of the Porsche 911, the Carrera GTS which is sporting a 408 horsepower flat-six cylinder engine and the Porsche’s infamous Sport Chrono Package Plus for those extra special days on the track.
The cost of this 911 Carrera GTS B59 Edition will hit your pockets to the tune of $133,540, but keep in mind that this is a five-piece special edition model.
