2012 BMW 3 Series Li (Long Wheelbase) Spied

by Ionut Dragomir

Below are the very first spy photos of the new 2012 BMW 3 Series Li. This model with a long- wheelbase is specifically developed to address the interests of the Chinese market, which has been a key part of the success that BMW has achieved in the past few years.

The F30 3 Series Li will be a strong competitor for Audi A4L. Itwill serve as a premium luxury vehicle for customers who like to be chauffeured but does not want to spend too much.

According to the usual source, Scott27, the F30 3er Li will be manufactured in China and the extended platform will be the same one used for the upcoming BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo.

The F30 3 Series Sedan, design wise, identifies itself as an evolution of the current E90 bodystyle with style cues from the F10 5 Series. Scott27 (BMW insiders) describe the new model as a scaled down 5 Series, but with unique lines that will make it distinctive within the BMW family.

Besides the exterior, the interior design has been reworked as well. The standalone LCD screen seen first on the new 6 Series and now the F20 1er, made its way into premium midsize sedan. The dashboard, controls and gauges with Black Panel technology are derived from the more luxurious 5 Series Sedan and Gran Turismo.

The BMW 3 Series Li will make its world premiere at the Beijing Autoshow in April 2012, being available only for China.
