A Special Edition of 2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale was on display at The São Paulo, Brazil Motor Show, 2012.
The French manufacturer of this most powerful roadster in the world has no reservations about the design, features, specifications and engineering excellence that will surely appeal to the niche buyer worldwide.
This vroom….vrooom……..vroooommm Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse is a sports coupe with “open top” and boasts of a 7.9 liter, W 16 engine and clocks 100 kmh in 2.6 seconds from standstill; maximum output 1,200 hp @ 6,400 rpm; maximum torque 1,500 Nm @ 3,000 – 5,000 rpm. Four large turbochargers with intercoolers contribute immensely to the engine power output.
Consequently, the drive train has been rejiged to enable the transfer of the high output engine power to run through to drive the wheels using a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and appropriate air ducting in this area. Thus, proper control of back pressure has helped reduce fuel consumption effectively. The fuel system uses a four-pump tank to ensure quick response and smooth acceleration .
A top speed of 410 kmh under controlled environment on test tracks gives this Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale the label of the “fastest” amongst production models of luxury sports cars in automotive industry. However, sports car enthusiasts will be able to clock 375 kmh on their speedometer in the electronically limited Normal handling mode on this powerful Bugatti.
The massive power of this Grand Sport and its powerful acceleration and sudden braking needs a good and safe undercarriage design of the chassis components. The answer to the said needs has come in the form of dampers that match those on racing cars to ensure harmony and perfect balance by controlling pitching and body roll in the conduct of safe driving.
Steering geometry has received attention to further enhance driving safety and vehicle responses. Alloy wheels (20”), intelligent all-wheel drive system. Efficient brakes with excellent cooling and quick heat dissipation criteria complete the undercarriage engineering parameters.
The expertise and engineering excellence of the design team is evidenced by the creativity in aerodynamics evidenced on the Bugatti. Spoilers, windbreakers, central air intakes on each side of the radiator and design parameters to induct these aerodynamic component features on the front-end exterior and enhance the cars eye-catching shape are par excellence. The well designed xenon headlamps complete the beauty of the front-end of the Bugati Grand sport.
The rear-end design creativity is extremely pleasing with the centrally positioned twin tailpipe and double diffuser taking centre stage along with the other high-end components.
A parking Distance Control (PDC) system is standard and useful to the driver in vehicle parking.
Carbon-fibre is the preferred raw material for the entire body shell of the Bugatti Grand Sport. The body shell is monocoque and made from carbon-fibre. This raw material brings safety and rigidity to absorb and overcome torsional forces. For the interior a blend of carbon-fibre with aluminum, magnesium and stainless steel is used for the consoles and panels with leather to add a luxurious feel to the passenger at the right and proper places. Power Gauge is featured on the instrument panel to record the hp generated by the engine when in use.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale, the sports coupe with the latest engineering inputs and the vroooommm factor of speed, acceleration and power is in a class by itself ; unmatched design, technology, engineering and technical inputs. Now, the competition will need more time, energy and technology to match this new edition of Bugatti.
