2012 Ford Focus Electric – Pictures and Specifications

Site DefaultFord14 years ago25 Views

Ford’s response to Nissan’s Leaf is due to be released sometime this year. The Ford Focus Electric is an all-electric vehicle with an engine that produces 123 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, which is more torque than the current gasoline model.

The range of this vehicle is still unknown – but judging by the size of the battery (which contains about as much energy as the one of the Leaf), and the extra mass, it will probably be a little lower than the one of its Japanese counterpart.

The charging time is shorter thanks to the 240-volt charging station, which recharges the car in 3-4 hours (about half the time needed for a Leaf). Recharging to a regular power outlet takes 18-20 hours. The optional charging station costs $1500.

The Electric Focus features a nine-speaker Sony audio system, Sync, Sirius satellite radio, voice-controlled navigation, and keyless entry. There is also a cell phone application that enables you to stay in touch with your vehicle, and control things like temperature or find out time left to recharge.

The estimated fuel economy is of 100 mpg, a little more than in the case of the Leaf.

The 2012 Ford Focus Electric will go on sale this year. The base price is $40,000.

When is Ford going to allow a test drive of this EV? Many of us would love to get some driving impressions.

Ford hasn’t said anything about a test drive for the Focus Electric yet.
Maybe they’ll announce something at the next Motor Show where they take part.
    We’ll let you know.

The Leaf has a 3.3kw on board charger & the Focus is going to have a 7.7kw. They both use up to 240v. Love my Leaf.
