As the 2011 version of the Mustang sold out so quickly we expect this year’s model to do the same – especially because this Mustang is a lot more powerful.
The exterior design will not suffer major changes, but the magic happens under the hood: the engine will be a 5.4L supercharged V8 capable of delivering 800 horsepower and 510 ft.-lb of torque. The new Mustang will have a six-speed manual transmission and a fuel economy of 15 mpg city and 23 highway.
As well as previous Mustang models, this one will also be offered in coupe and convertible versions, with prices varying between $49,495 and $54,495 respectively.
Competitors of this car are the BMW M3, the Chevrolet Corvette and the Dodge Viper SRT 10. As the Viper SRT10 is out of production, and the M3 is slower and less powerful than our Mustang, the choice is mainly made between the Corvette and the GT500, although the Shelby is a little more powerful (and more expensive).
This year’s SuperSnake will get a much needed suspension upgrade. Considering that previous Mustangs didn’t have a much different one than the 1967 model, but were twice as powerful, one can realize that the car had some problems – we expect that they will end this year.
The interior will get leather sports buckets with racing stripes. A new feature of the 2012 model will be the sun visor with dual vanity mirrors.
