At the 2008 Paris Motor Show, we saw the entrance of the third generation Avensis, which went on sale across Europe in both four-door sedan and station wagon formats in January of 2009.
Even if Toyota was trying to keep its plans on the refreshed Avensis under secrecy, a reader of the Dutch car magazine Autoweek made good use of his camera and now we have some photos with the facelift version 2012 Toyota Avensis. This photos were taken after the mid-size sedan was spotted without camouflage near Cannes.
The spy pics shows that the 2012 Toyota Avensis features a slightly revised front fascia which borrows elements from the new Yaris and the FT-86, as well as new alloys and mildly redesigned tail lamps. The upcoming model will also come with a new rear bumper, while the interior will most likely remain untouched probably. Autoweek also published a few more pictures including one of the interior, though we couldn’t manage to spot any changes inside due to the poor quality of the image, so we must be pleased with what we have so far.
Details regarding the new model’s debut are not available right now and we’re still waiting for Toyota to issue a press statement about its plans for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Still chances are the 2012 Avensis will be among the cars to debut at the German show.
Price: not available for now, but the new model will be priced slightly higher than the current model, which is priced around £20,000
