2013 Fiat 500e

The all new Fiat 500e, the company’s first electric vehicle has made its world debut at the Los Angeles auto show.

The EV makes 111hp and 149 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels, where a lithium-ion battery housed under the floor helps improve the weight distribution to 57/43-percent front/rear, also providing a range of 80 miles, and while in city the EV can travel up to 100 miles on a single charge. Fiat estimates that the 500e will earn a 116 MPGe rating. And as for the charging, it takes 4 hours, with a 240-volt outlet.

On the outside the EV is fitted with front air dam, side skirts borrowed from the potent Abarth and a host of subtle aerodynamics. Inside the EV, it features a unique seven-inch TFT screen that displays battery info and range details in addition to general vehicle information. And an available e-Sport package adds what Fiat calls “high-voltage” look, including blacked-out exterior trim, a “Nero” leatherette upholstery and uniquely finished cast-aluminum wheels with Electrico Arancione Perla accents to match the wild available exterior color

There will be only a small run of 500e EVs, which will be built, and they will only be offered in California, to comply with strict new laws in the state, and apparently the new EV from Fiat wont be available for the European region.
