According to Hyundai, 2011 has been the best year for the Genesis Coupe series, as it set a new sales record. The Korean plan on keeping up with the previous year’s performance.
The 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets its power from a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 2.0-liter inline engine that is good for 274 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.8-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection that delivers 348 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic with manual shifting mode and paddles mounted on the steering wheel. With such power the 2013 Genesis hits a top speed of 146mph (149 for the 3.8-liter) and does the sprint to 60 in just 6.1 seconds (5.1 for the bigger engine). The fuel economy is more than acceptable for a car with such power: between 18 mpg and 20 mpg city and between 28 and 31 mpg highway.
The interior is quite satisfactory. It features a seven-inch touchscreen for the navinfotainment system (that is now usable while the car is moving). The 360-watt Infinity sound system is also compatible with satellite radio and traffic. Other features on the inside include Bluetooth connectivity, Faux stitching and sport front seats. There is plenty of leg, head and hip room both for driver and for passengers.
The base price is $25,125 for the 2.0-liter and $29,625 for the 3.8-liter, which means that the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe would be competing with Mustang’s GTs, and other vehicles like it.
