We previously reported that the next-generation Range Rover will come in 2012. Well it seems that we were close because today the new generation Range Rover has been spotted during hot weather testing in Southern Europe.
Considering that the upcoming Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Sport will be based on the same platform as the new Range Rover, the development of this new model, is very important for the brand.
No official details were released, but rumors are talking about that the new platform is a modified Jaguar XJ platform that has been strengthen on vital places to make sure the off-road capabilities will remain top of the line. Beside this, the new Range Rover is also told to be much lighter than the current one, thanks to more aluminum used on both chassis and body, so it will likely be more faster than the current model.
The new generation Range Rover will get his power from both diesel and petrol engines known from the current line-up, even if slightly upgraded, and there will also be two hybrid versions. In conclusion, the new model will be available both as diesel hybrid and as petrol hybrid when it will be official in late 2012 or early 2013.
As for the prices, some rumors say that the new car will be priced around $90-100,000, but that remains to be seen. Until then you can check out our photo gallery below and share your views about this model.
