Audi has unveiled a hot A3 clubsport quattro concept, which will debut end of May at the Wörthersee Meeting in Reifnitz.
The concept car is based on the recently unveiled S3 Sedan, taking the 300 hp model to new heights with its new five-cylinder TFSI engine under the hood producing 525 hp, replacing the already impressive 2.0 TFSI.
525 horsepower in a compact sedan is very impressive and shows the potential the 2.5 TFSI has, that is taken from the RS Q3, where it packs 310 horsepower. The engine has received numerous updates with biggest ones a new larger turbocharger with up to 1.5 bar boost and modified intercooler.
The Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h (192.6 mph).
Visually the concept is distinguished from the S3 Sedan with a new Magnetic Blue paint, hood made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), the body is lowered 10 millimeters, singleframe grille framed in matt aluminum. The engine hood extends over the grille and the headlights, sporting Audi rings.
Side view is also sharper with two straight edges above the wheels, reduced side mirrors, new side sills and at the rear is a large diffuser and two oval tailpipes.
The concept weighs 1,527 kilograms (3,366.5 lb), which is not very impressive, but with all that power the power to weight ration is on the other hand quite impressive.
The interior is largely black with contrast stitching in Sepang Blue. The footrest and pedals are made of stainless steel.
It is unlikely we will see a production A3/S3/RS3 with such power in production, but a slightly toned down version could arrive within two years with RS3 badging.
