The first images of the 2014 BMW i3 have surfaced on the web just ahead of its official debut in this month on 29th.
Easily recognizable, the production model closely mimics the concept but comes with a new front bumper with revised head- and fog lights. The translucent doors have also been jettisoned for more conventional units that open towards the back to improve access to the second row of seats.
In terms of interior, the cabin comes with some notable highlights that include a two-spoke steering wheel, metallic trim and freestanding iDrive, instrument cluster displays, metallic accents and optional wood trim.
The entry-level model comes fitted with a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that generates 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in 7.2 seconds, and comes with an electronically limited top speed of 150 kmph (93 mph) and can travel up to 130 to 160 km (81 to 99 miles) on a single charge.
The 2014 BMW i3 will be priced at €34,950 in Germany, £25,680 (after a £5,000 government grant) in the U.K. and $41,350 (excluding a $925 destination & handling fee) in the United States.
