Ford has recently released some new details about their 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that will be used the Daytona Prototype that will compete in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Series.

According to Ford Racing director Jamie Allison, the engine is actually a production based engine and has a production block and production heads. However, it has been adapted for racing applications with the racing controls.

His sentiments were echoed by Ford Racing engine engineer David Simon who stated that the production engineering staff, that works on the production engines like 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-liter Coyote V8, have all the access to the racing program and collaborate with the racing program. The advantage of this is that it benefits both production and racing engines as engineers can take what they learn in one program and transfer it to another.

The video clip is quite exciting and the engine also seems to do well since it is a production based engine and still if it manages to change itself to racing engine and manages to compete and give competition, it is worth being applauded!
