Skoda’s web designers have this strange tendency to let models slip out early and they have managed to continue this streak of theirs as the Rapid Spaceback was reportedly posted on the company’s car configurator.
Though the error now seems to have been fixed, but one of the readers already took a couple of screen shots before the images were removed. With the assumption that the pictures are legitimate, the model seems to have a no frills design that focuses on practicality instead of flair. Notable changes include longer rear doors, large rear quarter windows and a gently sloping tailgate that is flanked by familiar taillamps.
Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so expect choices to include:
• 1.6-liter TDI with outputs of 90 HP (66 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW)
• 1.2-liter MPI with output of 75 HP (55 kW / 74 hp) and 112 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque
• Turbocharged 1.2-liter TSI with outputs of 86 HP (63 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW)
• Turbocharged 1.4-liter TSI with output of 122 HP (90 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque
The Skoda Rapid Spaceback could be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September.
