Lincoln has announced pricing for the 2015 Navigator, which is basically Ford’s answer to the new Cadillac Escalade. Even though it looks new, the model is more of an update as it still rides on the same old chassis, though the new engine is sure to make a difference.
The new full-size luxury SUV goes on sale later this year starting at $62,475 for 4×2 models and when equipped with the Reserve Package, the base price increases to $69,975.
The 4×4 Reserve Package models start at $72,900.
Gone is the big V8 engine that is replaced with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine delivering 380 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The new EcoBoost engine is mated to a six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission.
This new engine is projected to offer best-in-class towing of 9,000 pounds.
We are use to big full size SUVs using V8 engines, but turbocharging clearly is the future together with engine downsizing.
The updated/new Navigator also comes with a continuously controlled damping suspension to help provide a smoother ride, and electric power-assisted steering that helps deliver responsive handling.
The Continuously controlled damping is standard on all 4×4 models and all Navigators equipped with the available 22-inch wheels.
Other standard goodies for 4×4 models include hill start assist and Hill Descent Control.
In addition to the standard wheelbase model a longer Navigator will continue to be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions with a 131-inch wheelbase (119 inches in the standard wheelbase). Total length is 222.3 inches versus 208.4 inches.
The Navigator L starts at $64,640 for the 4×2 version and $68,215 for the 4×4 version.
New Navigator is scheduled to hit showrooms early this fall.
