Mercedes-Benz reportedly planning a new G-Class inspired GLB crossover for 2019

by SpeedLux

Mercedes SUV range currently includes the entry-level GLA, followed by GLK, M-Class, GL and the iconic G-Class.

According to German’s Autobild the range will continue growing and by the end of the decade a new model called GLB will hit the market.

Details are limited, but is new lifestyle vehicle will sit above the GLA, sharing its platform with the next-generation A-Class which is scheduled to debut in the first half of 2018. Next GLA will also use the platform, but for the GLB it will be extended as it is possible this new crossover could offer seating for up to seven people with three rows of seats.

Most likely front-wheel drive is standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive optional.

Styling is reportedly much different from the GLA with inspiration coming from the big G-Glass and possibly the ener-g force concept pictured above.
