2016 Chevrolet Cruze spied on the Nurburgring

The next generation of the Chevrolet Cruze has been caught in the camera yet again and this time it was found testing on the tracks of the Nürburgring.

The 2016 Cruze will supposedly ride on an all-new platform that would be developed by General Motors which will be known as D2XX. The company has already said that the new Cruze will come with new exterior and interior styling, improved fuel economy and an improved interior compartment and more storage space.

The next-gen model was initially scheduled for release in 2014 fall, but now the latest news is that the Cruze production was pushed back until December 2015 which now means that it will go on sale as a 2016MY. This means that the current-gen will continue to be in the market for at least 2014 and 2015 model years.

GM has plans of investing around 220M USD in their Lordstown and Parma plants to get them ready for the next-gen Cruze production. We can expect the car to be offered as a sedan, hatchback and coupe and should feature an Impala-inspired front fascia. Also its D2XX platform will underpin other models in the GM empire such as the next-gen Volt, Astra and Equinox.
