by SpeedLux

The 5 champions of the 2016 World Car of the Year consist of the Mazda MX-5 Miata (a double winner) Toyota Mirai, Audi R8, and also BMW 7 Series.

Starting Day 2 of the New York Auto Show, the World Car of the Year awards are now being distributed. The total winner is, the Mazda MX-5 Miata. It beat the Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.

The special feature of these awards are that they aren’t restricted to the United States domestic market (that’s why they’re called the World Car of the Year awards). Candidates for the award consisted of the Skoda Superb, Renault Kadjar, and Subaru Levorg. In the Efficiency classification, the prohibited fruit was repped by the Honda Civic Type R. Both the Civic and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe were beat out by a far more pricey rival– the brand-new Audi R8.

The fourth-generation Toyota Prius and the second-generation Chevrolet Volt, were 2 of the huge finalists for the World Green Car of the Year award. They both lost, however, to the Mirai fuel-cell automobile. Yes, a hydrogen vehicle vanquished 2 of the world’s premiere hybrids.

The high-end race that was possibly the hardest to anticipate. Since each of the 3 finalists have actually gotten near universal recognition, that’s. In the end, however, the BMW 7 Series vanquish the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.

We have the World Vehicle Design of the Year, where the total winner (MX-5) and the Mazda CX-3 dealt with off versus the brand-new Jaguar XE. While both the CX-3 and XE are good-looking cars, the WCOTY committee recognized the abswer is constantly Miata, and granted Mazda’s famous roadster another 2016 award.
