It seems that Scandinavia is now the new playground for the world’s automakers when it comes to testing their new vehicle models. Before this, it was reported that the Italian automaker, Maserati, was also testing its vehicle at Scandinavia. Now, a German automaker under BMW, MINI, has also been spotted testing one of its new vehicle models. Someone has managed to snap the image of what will seemingly end up as the MINI Countryman for the 2017 model year when the vehicle is making a halt at a particular gas station in the country.
It is true that the vehicle snapped in the images is very heavily covered in camouflage so as not to blow up its true identity. Nonetheless, it does not take rocket science to figure out the vehicle is most likely the next generation Countryman from MINI and that it will sport an evolutionary design for its new front fascia. In this case, the front grille will be larger than usual. Also, the vehicle will sport a pair of exterior side mirrors mounted to its door panels, a sloping roofline and also extended fender flares, which will most likely remind fans of the brand of the models’ predecessor. Designed as a crossover, this new car from MINI will definitely have a larger size than that of its predecessor. This is to provide customers with a more spacious cabin as well as an increased volume in terms of the trunk capacity.
As for the engine options, they will be similar to those of the MINI Cooper, it seems. Both petrol and diesel variants will be available. Power output ranges from 134 bhp to 228 bhp for the range-topping 2017 MINI Countryman. This power comes from a 2.0L 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine that also spits out 320 Nm of torque when it reaches its peak performance.
