2011 Alfa Romeo MiTo launched in Europe

The commercial debut of the 2011 Alfa Romeo named MiTo in Italy as well as in other European markets of concern has gone off recently. The MiTo was first put up on display at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The updated car has been given a changed exterior color scheme as well as seat upholstery. There is also some new equipment that has been given as optional. The car is fitted with a Euro 5 compliant engine and features the Start and Stop system.

In Italy the car is priced at €15,500 which with the current conversion rates works out to be $21,800. The car would be fitted with a 78 hp 1.4 liter petrol engine and is called the Progression model. At €22,550 that is $31,650, one gets the 120 hp, 1.6 liter diesel engine. There also is the possibility of getting a 1.3 liter JTDM-2 diesel engine delivering 95 hp. The gasoline model comes in three variants delivering 105 hp which would be a naturally aspirated unit, the turbocharged versions would deliver 135 and 170 hp.

The car comes in four trim level options. Progression, Distinctive, “Super” and Quadrifoglio Verde. Customers also have the option of choosing between seven new alloy wheel designs and eleven body colors. There is a new metal flake color called Bronzo Metal which is part of this choice list.

Fuel consumption of the car is 5.6 liter per 100 kilometer for the 1.4 liter engine which works out to 42 mpg. The 2010MY in comparison gives 5.9 liter for every 100 km or 39.9 mpg. The 1.4 liter Multiair turbo engine which delivers 135 hp has a new-generation double-clutch TCT transmission featuring in the car. This feature accelerates the car from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.2 seconds which makes it 2 seconds quicker. Alfa have also announced a service interval of 35,000 km or 21,750 miles for its diesel engines.

A Blue&Me Tom Tom multimedia system which is a new one in the world comes fitted in the MiTo MY2011. The system connects the cars infotainment system with a portable navigation device. The system consists of a 4.3 inch touch screen which has the capability to display phone, media and board computer information.
