Future Aston Martin to have classic ‘straight six’ engines

by Alex

Dr Ulrich Bez, the chief executive of Aston Martin indicated the return to the classic ‘straight six’ engine configuration with the new generation car that the company would be coming up with. Present day Aston Martins all have nearly similar engine configuration in their models. Aston Martin uses the VH platform in its manufacturing process and as per Dr Bez, it has yet a long many years of life left in it. His confidence on the output of the platform was further evidenced when he stated that the platform had delivered impressive models for the company leave aside the optional packages that also came up with each model.

Reports from PistonHeads, to whom Dr Bez spoke mention about his opinion regarding the wide range of models that this single platform has given and that there existed no match to this variety from any quarter. Evolution rather than revolution was the way ahead as per him. He did mention his interest in returning to straight six configurations for future Aston Martin road cars.

Given his personal choice it was an inline engine of around 2.5 liter capacity with direct injection and turbocharging. He had special regard to this engine due to the V12’s ability to be fitted easily in the car.
