Aston Martin drops Lagonda SUV plans; will launch a sedan version instead

Back in 2009 when Aston Martin, the renowned manufacturer of performance cars announced plans to bring back the Lagonda brand in the form of an SUV (sports utility vehicle) concept, people were surprised with the thought of an Aston Martin SUV. Besides the SUV, on its debut was not wholeheartedly welcomed in general by the automotive industry and Aston Martin fans in particular. However, this year that is 2010 the company has finally confirmed that it will not produce any non-sports car. The Rapide would be the last known non-sports car version from Aston Martin. Experts believe that the company’s decision in light of what happened to the Lagonda SUV is a good decision.

Aston Martin has recently decided that the company is going to bring a Lagonda edition of the Rapide sedan. It is believed that the Rapide will grow in length as compared to the Lagonda SUV. The new sports vehicle will feature sufficient interior space for rear passengers. Experts also believe that the new sports vehicle in all probabilities is likely to be a far more luxury oriented car.

Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez had said that the future sedan would be “the luxury car of the future, a combination of total usability, a new form and innovative new technology and materials” at the time of the concept car launch Aston Martin Lagonda. Even though it is apparently appealing, yet we will have to wait for over four years to see the results. This is because, according to experts, it would take four years to produce the production edition of the Lagonda Rapide by Aston Martin.

an suv isnt really suspose to be beautiful like a sports car. its about presence and ruggedness. the lagonda suv had it. i agree the back end dont really fit, but i still like it. if you ask me i say its better than a porsche suv.
