At least three died after Amtrak train and cars derail near Joplin

Several people have died after an Amtrak train went off the rails in the state of Montana on Saturday.

Liberty Country Sherriff’s Office has said that at least three people were killed in the crash.

The Empire Builder train had about 147 passengers and 13 crew on board when eight cars derailed near the town of Joplin at 4 pm.

Amtrak is working with the local officials to transport injured passengers and safely evacuate all other passengers.

It is yet to be known that what caused the crash.

There were multiple injuries but the actual figure is yet to be known.

The train was said to be heading for the western city of Seattle from Chicago.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it is going to send a 14-member team, including investigators and specialists in railway signals and other disciplines, and it investigate the crash.
