Audi Le Mans-inspired supercar on hold as it’s not a priority – report

The future of Audi’s Le Mans-inspired super car is in doubt as recently the company’s head of technical development has downplayed the project.

Speaking to one of the car magazines, Audi’s head of technical development Ulrich Hackenberg said that the model was an interesting idea but not a priority as of now. However he did not reveal any further details about the same but we know that the car was a pet project of his predecessor, Wolfgang Dürheimer, who was reportedly ousted for opposing electric vehicles like the R8 e-tron.

As previously reported, the model which is rumored to be codenamed Scorpion was expected to be built and was supposed to be based on the R18 e-tron quattro. But little else is known about the car as of now but it could have used a 100 hp (74 kW) electric motor and a turbocharged 3.7-liter V6 diesel engine with an output of 600 hp (447 kW).

Well the news might have disappointed quite a few car fans but we can only hope that the project is postponed and not scrapped completely and some day we will surely get to see the super car.
