Audi Q7 e-tron confirmed for current-gen model, next-gen due late 2015

by SpeedLux

One of the Audi representatives has confirmed that an e-tron version of the Q7 will be revealed before the next-gen model arrives towards the end of 2015.

Earlier this year in Geneva Motor Show we saw the A3 e-tron which will actually go on sale, unlike the R8 e-tron which has been cancelled due to some battery problems. Now, Audi Australia Managing Director Andrew Doyle says a Q7 e-tron will be revealed before the next-gen model that is slated to arrive in late 2015.

However he didn’t specify further details about the power specifications but one thing is for sure that it won’t come fitted with the 150 HP 1.4-liter TFSI / 102 HP (75 kW) electric motor combo in the A3 e-tron. This means we can surely expect something with considerably more power since the weight difference between the two is also huge.

Although the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne will receive a new generation model next year, Audi has decided to wait until 2015 for the new Q7 since it is still doing quite well worldwide and in Australia. The same MLB platform will also underpin the 2016 Bentley SUV and a production version of the Lamborghini Urus which will be out in the year 2017.
