There is an exciting car from the Japanese automaker, Subaru, at this year’s New York Auto Show event. The company has officially taken the wraps off its latest STI Performance Concept vehicle at the aforementioned auto expo.
According to the Japanese company, customers can think of this new vehicle from Subaru as an ultimate road-legal variant of the company’s BRZ model. The car comes with an aggressive body design and a wide body kit. Buyers of the vehicle can expect flared wheel arches, massive side skirts, a largely sized rear wing spoiler and, in terms of performance, extra cooling system for the engine. Speaking of which, customers buying the car will benefit from a 2.0L turbocharged boxer engine. This engine is the one derived from the company’s BRZ GT300, which is only legal for use on the track.
The Japanese marquee has yet to disclose the exact performance figures of the STI Performance Concept car. However, the racecar variant delivers 300 bhp of power and 447 Nm of torque. Other components that are also derived from the company’s BRZ GT300 include the suspension, chassis and aerodynamic upgrades.
Unfortunately, though, those who are expecting a turbo variant of the BRZ may get upset as the company has not mentioned a thing or two about such a model. However, according to Subaru, customers can actually expect a significant Subaru Tecnica International (STI) expansion version, especially for those living on the US soil.
