A South African man sets a new top speed record for the blind

SL 65 Black SeriesPrevious record for the blind was 309 km/h (192 mph) in a Lamborghini Gallardo by a Belgian man Luc Costermans. He did it last October on the Istres Air Force Base.

Looks like a South African man is the new top speed record holder for the blind.

Hein Wagner reached a top speed of 322.5 km/h (200 mph) yesterday at the Upington Airport in a Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Black Series. This exclusive supercar was offered by a local businessman and motor enthusiast Lolly Jackson.

The record will be in the Guinness World Record book as he successfully maintained a speed of 322.5 km/h for 1000 m (0.6 miles).

On his record attempt Mr. Wagner was guided by Ray Wakefield from Speedrecord SA. All the funds from this event go to the Vision Trust organisation which works on new technologies for the blind.

When will we see a blind man driving a Bugatti Veyron? 400 km/h should be the new record then if the runway is wide enough and he does not make a mistake.
